How Garage Playbook earns money through affiliate links, which programs we participate in, and how we keep recommendations independent.
Garage Playbook is reader-supported. Some links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission from the merchant or network at no extra cost to you. This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), the Competition Bureau of Canada’s guidance on influencer and affiliate marketing, and the requirements of the programs we participate in.
Amazon Associates
Garage Playbook is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Other affiliate programs
We participate in affiliate programs managed through networks such as Impact, and directly with brands. Programs we work with may include makers and retailers of garage doors and openers, floor coatings and tiles, storage systems, heaters and climate products, tools, and home improvement products. We link only to programs we have been approved for, and we remove links when a program ends.
How affiliate links are marked
- A disclosure appears near the top of any page with affiliate links, before the first affiliate link.
- Affiliate links are tagged in the page code with
rel="sponsored nofollow", as search engines ask. - We do not hide affiliate links behind misleading text or disguise them as editorial references.
Our independence promise
- Commissions never decide our recommendations. We recommend products and services on their merits for the specific reader need, and we include options that pay us nothing when they are the better fit.
- Our tools are commission-blind. Calculators recommend capacities, specifications, and categories, not brands, so no commission can affect a result.
- We say what we tested. Reviews state whether a product was tested hands-on or researched. See our Review Methodology.
- No paid rankings. Brands cannot buy a better position, rating, or review.
- Free products are disclosed. If a brand ever provides a product for review at no cost, we will say so in the review, and it will not change our conclusions.
Prices
We avoid publishing prices because they change constantly. Check the merchant’s site for current prices, taxes, shipping, and return policies. Merchants, not Garage Playbook, are responsible for the products they sell.
