Terms and Conditions
The rules for using Garage Playbook, including our tools, content, submissions, affiliate links, disclaimers, and how disputes are handled.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of garageplaybook.com, including all content, calculators, checklists, forms, newsletters, and related services (together, the “Site”), operated by Jeremy Jarvis (“Garage Playbook,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Eligibility
The Site is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to submit content, subscribe, or join a waitlist.
2. Educational information, not professional advice
Everything on the Site is general information for educational purposes. It is not legal, tax, accounting, financial, investment, insurance, medical, mechanical, electrical, engineering, or immigration advice, and no professional relationship is created by your use of the Site. Topics such as electrical work, garage door springs, fuel-burning heaters, permits for conversions, structural loads, insurance, and homeowners association rules depend on your individual circumstances and on laws that change. 3. Safety and your responsibility
Garage projects involve real risks, including garage door springs and cables under high tension, carbon monoxide from vehicles and fuel-burning heaters, fire from heaters, fuel and chemicals, electric shock, fumes and dust from coatings and tools, falls from ladders, and heavy loads on shelving and ceiling racks. Follow manufacturer instructions and applicable codes, use qualified technicians for installation and repair, respect posted rules and closures, and use your own judgment. You are solely responsible for how you use information from the Site.
4. Calculators and tools
Our calculators produce estimates based on the inputs you provide and the assumptions we state on each tool page. They are simplified models, may contain errors, and are not quotes, offers, or guarantees. Budget results are not quotes, and heater, airflow, load, clearance, and coverage results are not engineering designs. Verify important numbers with contractors, installers, manufacturers, your local building department, and official sources.
5. Accuracy, prices, and changing conditions
We research carefully and update content, but information about products, prices, availability, programs, prices, building and electrical codes, permit requirements, and homeowners association rules changes frequently. We do not guarantee that any content is complete, current, or error-free. Product prices and availability are set by merchants and may differ from anything shown or implied on the Site. Always confirm details with the official source before you rely on them. You can report incorrect information at any time.
6. Intellectual property and permitted use
The Site, including its text, calculators and their code, checklists, graphics, logos, original images, and design, is owned by or licensed to Garage Playbook and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. “Garage Playbook,” its logo, and its tagline are our trademarks. You may view and print pages and checklists for your personal, non-commercial use and share links to our pages. You may not copy, republish, sell, scrape, frame, or create derivative works from the Site, or use its content to train or fine-tune machine-learning or AI models, without our written permission. Short quotations with attribution and a link are welcome under fair use.
7. Your submissions
If you submit a question, correction, comment, survey response, or other content (“Submission”), you confirm that it is your own work and truthful to the best of your knowledge, that it does not copy anyone else’s text, photos, or reviews, and that it does not violate any law or anyone’s rights. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, edit, verify, publish, translate, and display your Submission in connection with the Site, with credit if you request it. We may decline, edit, or remove any Submission at our discretion. Do not include personal information about others.
8. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to: use the Site unlawfully or to harm others; attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems; interfere with the Site’s security or operation; send spam or malicious code through our forms; scrape, crawl, or harvest content or data by automated means except for search engines complying with our robots.txt; misrepresent your identity or affiliation; submit false or misleading information; or use the Site to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
9. Affiliate links, sponsors, and third-party sites
The Site contains affiliate links and may contain clearly labeled sponsored content, as explained in our Affiliate Disclosure and Advertising Disclosure. When you follow a link to another site, that site’s terms and policies apply. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, products, services, warranties, returns, or customer service. Any purchase you make is a transaction between you and the merchant.
10. Newsletter and communications
If you subscribe, you agree to receive the emails you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. Our email practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Future paid services
We do not currently sell any product, membership, or subscription. If we launch a paid service, it will be governed by separate terms that describe pricing, billing, renewal, cancellation, refunds, and any automatic-renewal disclosures required by law (including state automatic-renewal laws and the FTC’s rules on negative option marketing), which you will see and accept before paying.
12. Copyright complaints
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. See our Copyright and DMCA Policy.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND AVAILABILITY. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors or harmful components.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GARAGE PLAYBOOK AND ITS OWNER, CONTRIBUTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON THE SITE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights under applicable consumer protection law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Garage Playbook and its owner from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your Submissions, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the Site’s operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at hello@garageplaybook.com and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court where it qualifies. Otherwise, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the operator’s home state, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in Canada, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose laws give you the right to bring claims in your local courts or under your local law, nothing in these Terms removes that right.
17. International users
The Site is operated from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with local laws. Our content is written for readers in the United States; electrical codes, incentives, and utility rules differ elsewhere.
18. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms. The “last updated” date below shows when. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them. We may suspend or end access to any part of the Site at any time.
19. General terms
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a sale or transfer of the Site. These Terms, together with the policies they reference, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site. Section headings are for convenience only.
